The one and only Italian APP for a slow-placed, accessible and sustainable urban tourism.
This APP will enable you to access information on paths that were created to let you freely discover (or re-discover) our villages, towns and cities: however, please do not rate it as just another of the many sources of tourist information available in guide books or on the internet…as it is not. In fact, these itineraries were carefully designed to be covered on foot, in one’s own time, in order to enjoy every inch of the places encountered along the way.
Moreover, every piece of information on the paths’ points of interest was carefully checked and verified. Finally, their truly “special” feature is that they were designed having in mind persons with reduced mobility as well as the visually impaired, thus giving specific information on the type of surface and paving, the presence of any obstacles or steps, etc.
Because a place can be visited, can be felt, and can be “absorbed” when involving all the senses...
The portal gives a general description of each path, plus information on the relevant environment, maps, orientation, travel time on foot, path type and access details, audio and text descriptions of the buildings and monuments, references to points of interest in the immediate surroundings, intersections with other paths, connections with public transport and parking areas, and details on hotels and catering facilities that state they are fully accessible by persons with disabilities. All of the above is available in English, too.
This App originates from the www.camminacitta.it portal, a project created by the IUBILANTES Cultural Organization. The portal was granted the SETTEGREEN AWARDS 2013 PRIZE FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY, thus leading IUBILANTES to win the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Award 2014 in the DEDICATED SERVICE category.
